Hey. I’m some guy who is probably perpetually too lazy to write this page beyond what is already here.
For the context of this blog, all you need to know is below.
Probably most relevant: I work as a Mental Health Technician in a rural forensic inpatient mental hospital for adult men. Pursuing MSW. Millennial.
I have a shitty past. This is important context. However, no one likes someone who trauma dumps on their “about” page of their blog. So, I will keep it as brief as I can:
- Grew up in awful poverty
- In city with the highest rate of crime in my entire state
- With narcissist and her sociopath boyfriend whose hobbies were drinking, drugs, and abusing me and my brother in every way imaginable
- Every other weekend, went to see our father (if he wasn’t currently in the mental hospital for having a psychotic break due to his unmanaged bipolar type 1)
- Got older, continued to subconsciously seek out extremely abusive relationships/situations which didn’t go great for me
- Tried to kill myself a few times (didn’t work, not currently a ghost, I don’t think)
- Decided that was enough, have gone to regular therapy and been medicated for over a decade
- Living happily with husband, two dogs, two cats for the past decade (yes, that timeline coincides with the above for a reason)
It doesn’t take a great imagination to figure out what drew me into the social work and mental health field. Probably.
The purpose of this blog is to talk about my personal thoughts and feelings about my own past, my work, and how those two coincide. I also will likely talk about mental health in general – research, my opinion on current events/pop psychology, etc.
I will never talk about patients or anything that happens in the hospital. Sorry, if you want the gossip and juicy stories, you’re going to have to go to TikTok which is filled with a bunch of kids breaking HIPAA and violating their patients’ privacy and trust.
Have fun reading!
